Finding a purr-fect home for Sheila the Sewell on the go cat
When our Cottingham store had a regular four-legged, fluffy visitor, the team quickly realised they needed to help her out. The cat, who staff dubbed Sheila, spent most of her days either on the forecourt or instore, even regularly taking long naps in the office.
While she was welcome to visit, the store team were concerned about her safety and what her family must think, plus they also noticed she was pregnant and in need of a safe place to have her kittens. The store team managed to track her owners down, who was were happy for Sheila to be rehomed. This is where our friends at Hull Animal Welfare Trust came in.
Hull Animal Welfare Trust took her in, and we’re pleased to announce that she’s now had her kittens safely. Sheila and her kittens will be neutered and have loving homes to go to once they’re old enough.
Sewell on the go’s Katherine Batch said “We’re so grateful to the team at Hull Animal Welfare Trust for taking Sheila in and giving her a safe space to raise her kittens, even though, like all animal rehoming charities, they are struggling for space. Our team at Cottingham had become really fond of her and were keen to ensure she had a safe and secure future.
“It’s been brilliant being able to ask the Trust for help, knowing that they will give her the best possible care. The Trust do the most fantastic job caring and rehoming animal in our local area – something we’ve been proud to support for nearly three decades.”
Our long-term partnership with Hull Animal Welfare Trust started back in 1998, and we’ve since gone on to support the charity regularly through supplying fuel for their vehicles, sponsored walks, volunteering time, raising money, running stalls at events, stocking their vodka at our South Cave store (where 100% of profits go to the Trust) – all-in-all raising over £100,000 in the process!
We’d like to thank Hull Animal Welfare Trust for their help and support with Sheila and her kittens – a true happy ending!
