Kayreen braved the shave for Dove House Hospice
Sewell on the go store manager Kayreen Moody shaved her luscious locks off in front of a Hull KR home crowd to raise over £1,000 for Dove House Hospice, and to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children and women.

Kayreen, who’s been with us for seven years, has always supported fundraising and community initiatives, but nothing has pushed her this far outside her comfort zone before.
“I was so nervous beforehand, but during the shave I really enjoyed it, and I knew how much the money raised would mean so much to so many people. I was super proud to be able to raise so much money for such an amazing charity that supports people with life limiting illnesses. Sewell on the go has supported me all the way and I really appreciate this.”
The event was live streamed pre-match to around 11,000 Hull KR v Huddersfield Giants fans at Sewell Group Craven Park, where Hull KR claimed a 36-6 victory.

Dove House Hospice partnership manager Jonny Bottomley actually did some of the shaving himself – and he is no hairdresser, but certainly enjoyed getting involved.
“What Kayreen did on Friday was unbelievably brave. Shaving your head is a big thing in itself, but doing it in front of thousands of people at Sewell Group Craven Park takes it to another level.
“It was a real privilege to be trusted to do the honours, and the support around her from the Sewell On The Go team and everyone in the stadium was fantastic. Moments like this show just how much people are prepared to put themselves out there for Dove House, helping us raise both vital funds and awareness so we can continue to be there for local patients and families when they need us most.
“A huge thank you to Kayreen, everyone at Sewell On The Go, and everybody who donated and supported her – we’re incredibly grateful.”
Kayreen’s head shave kicks off Dove House Month for Sewell on the go, which dedicates every September to raising as much money as possible for the Hospice, who have offered compassionate care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, while also supporting their loved ones for over 40 years. Across all 12 stores, our teams will be taking part in different activities such as It’s a Knockout, tombolas, raffles, cake sales and more to support the charity.
Almost there!
Dove House Month is pulled together by Sewell on the go operations manager, Allison O’Sullivan.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am of Kayreen. She has been growing her hair for such a long time, it made the full shave even more daunting as her hair was so long. And to do it in front of such a huge crowd – she is much braver than me!
“We’ve supported Dove House for many years now, and we will continue to do so as the work they do really is incredible. The people who work at Sewell on the go are all local people, and many of them have been supported at some point in their lives by Dove House Hospice so the charity feels very personal to many of us. Throughout September, we’ll be doing all sorts to help raise as much as we can for them.”
