Proud to be part of Pride in Hull 2023

Sewell on the go is once again supporting Pride in Hull – something we’ve been part of for many years. This year, team members have been more keen than ever to get involved and support the LGBTQ+ community by celebrating the progress we see today, and thanking the trailblazers who fought to achieve it. Take a look at how we continue to support Pride in Hull every year:

Part of the parade
As a proud partner, we’ll be joining many other local businesses on Saturday 29 July as we take on the brand-new parade route, which you can find here.

We have around 50 people from our stores taking part in the parade, armed with whistles, rainbow outfits and anything else to help make as much noise as possible.

Welfare area on Pride day
On the day of the parade and celebrations, there will be a Welfare Area to help anyone who’s feeling a little worse for wear or in need of some respite from the party. Sewell on the go have donated the water for this area to help anyone who needs it.

Decorating our stores
Our teams decorate their stores with all things rainbow through the months of June and July. From bunting to rainbow flags and new, large permanent outdoor flags, it’s clear our stores are allies to the LGBTQ+ community.

Providing a safe space for everyone at our stores
While the parade is the pinnacle, it’s not all we do to support Pride in Hull. Our stores are places of safe refuge for anyone who needs help – we’re open 24/7/365, and we’re available to provide assistance to anyone who needs it, just ask a team member for help.

Learning and development for our people
As a Group, we regularly hold diversity and inclusion training with our team members with Andy Train, the Co-Vice Chair and Creative Director at Pride in Hull. The training not only educates our teams on gender identification and sexuality, but also how to safely support someone if they are experiencing a hate crime.

The theme for this year’s Pride in Hull is ‘Access All Areas’ – we’re going to be taking over the whole of Hull City Centre with Princes Quay holding a free event full of music, dancing and poetry, live music in KCOM’s family area and a main stage full of huge acts.

We can’t wait to see you there!
