Sewell on the go join the Pride Parade
Sewell on the go have long supported Pride in Hull through sponsorship, providing diversity and inclusion training with staff across the Sewell Group, and decorating our stores using the Pride rainbow. This year, we also took part in the Pride in Hull parade for the very first time!
Alongside many other local businesses, community groups and charities, we pounded the pavements to show our support of the LGBTQ+ community. With special guest, Hull KR’s Rufus the Robin, 12 team members from across our retail stores proudly waved their Pride flags whilst wearing rainbow tabards, pushing the message to Be Yourself and to celebrate who you are.
From midday the event in Queen’s Gardens kicked off, where party-goers enjoyed performances from Boyzlife, Trinity the Truck, Biphony, Stooshe, Queenz and DJ Mike Tollan.
The Pride parade comes soon after the team took part in some informative and educational Diversity and Inclusion training from Andy Train, Co-Vice Chair (Creative Director) of Pride in Hull.
Pride in Hull is a registered charity, run by a small but perfectly formed committee of volunteers on a not-for-profit basis. Members of the team have been involved in Pride in the city since the very first event, which was almost 20 years ago.
Alli, our Ops Manager and parade-goer said:
“Wow – what an amazing event to be part of. We’ve always encouraged our teams to celebrate their individuality, and to see so many companies and different groups of people coming together to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community is fantastic. It was a great day with spirits high, colours bright and smiles wide. Whilst the weather was a little bit damp, no one let it rain on their parade.”
We hope you enjoy our photos below as much our our teams enjoyed supporting Pride in Hull this year!
