The Puffins have landed!

All 42 puffins as part of the Puffins Galore! art trail are now in pride of place stretching along the coast of East Yorkshire. Puffins Galore! is hoping to bring more tourists to the Yorkshire Coastline whilst raising awareness for endangered coastal wildlife, the effects of global warming, and to tell the stories of the people of Hull & East Yorkshire.

Our sponsored Puffin is called ‘Memories of the seaside’ by Rachael and Phillippa Corcutt. You can find it close to our Cottingham store (we’re not telling you the exact location – you’ll have to find it!) – make sure you tag us in your selfies @Sewellonthego.

About the Design
This design evokes childhood memories of going to the seaside and celebrates the history of rock and confectionary making in East Yorkshire. It is inspired by the patterns of sweets and candy – from John Bull’s famous rock factory, dating back to the 1900s, to confectionary being a timeless seaside treat in East Yorkshire. Featuring bright candy colours, swirls and a whole host of sweet treats, this Puffin stands out from the crowd.

About the Artist
Rachael and Phillippa are illustrators and twin sisters, who work together as an illustration collective. They create illustrations for children’s books, magazines and greetings cards, as well painting Wild In Art sculptures. Some of their clients include Scholastic publishing, Oxford University Press and Harper Collins. Their style focuses on visual storytelling and character design.

The teams from Sewell on the go voted for this Puffin because of how eye-catching the design is – and with the coast not being far away, we all have fond memories of the seaside.
